Grotte Chauvet

La grotte Chauvet, découverte en 1994, classé depuis 2014 UNESCO, se trouve dans la vallée de l'Ardèche, près du Pont d'Arc. Ses peintures préhistoriques, les plus anciennes qu'on ait trouvées - 36.000 années-, sont une pure merveille!

Pour les préserver, on a construit une réplique au milieu de la garrigue. Il faut réserver sa visite qui dure 50 min. Nous y avons rencontré des guides passionnés. Le grand boom de l'année dernière (première année de l'ouverture au public: 2015) s'est calmé. En plus, comme c'était des vacances, on nous a proposé de revenir pour admirer à nouveau la grotte sans le rythme imposé de la visite guidée.

La grotte fut alternativement occupée par des ours des cavernes dont on voit encore des ossements et des griffades sur les parois, et les aurignacien, les Cro-Magnon appelés aussi homo sapiens, nos ancêtres.

La qualité des dessins est époustouflante: des chevaux, des bisons, des rhinocéros, des mammouths, des ours, mais aussi des points....et des lions qui m'ont particulièrement fasciné.

Quand on pense, que ces peintures sont aussi éloignés dans le temps de Lascaux (18.000 années) que nous des dessins de Lascaux....Inimaginable!
